Future Stars
Age Group: Minimum 7 years old
An introductory, weekend program emphasizes parallel carving, basic racing techniques, and having fun!
Program Information
  • Coaching and instruction is tailored to athletes ages up to 11, and takes place in small groups.
  • Primarily focuses on skiing and racing fundamentals through free skiing - both directed (targeting specific skills and terrain, and guided by the coach) and undirected (high mileage, all terrain, athlete selected runs, under supervision from the coach).
  • The emphasis is to put many "miles" under the skis in a variety of terrain to improve balance, coordination, edge control, and dynamic movements and overall confidence.
  • Participate in age appropriate terrain and obstacle courses designed to build the strong skiing fundamentals and acquire basic racing tactics (rather than full-length gate courses).
  • Participants learn good sportsmanship and are encouraged to have a positive attitude.
  • Provides opportunities to race and be introduced to both NASTAR and USSA.
  • Our most important goal is to provide a safe and fun learning environment.
Staffing & Athlete-to-Coach Ratio:
  • The Future Stars Program is staffed by several coaches that work collaboratively to meet the individual needs of each participant.
  • LMRT's Future Stars Coaches have the experience, personalities, and skiing skills to work effectively with this younger age group.
  • The staff's strong skiing skills provide the necessary visual example these young athletes need to develop strong skiing fundamentals and dynamic techniques.
  • Athlete-to-coach ratio range from approximately 4 to 6 athletes per coach for this program.
Program Awards:
The Future Stars Program coaches use a variety of age appropriate techniques including participation and performance-based awards to motivate participants.
