Monika Cyran

U12 Coach | From the Tatras to Liberty

Four years old, southern Poland, and a dad determined to raise a kid who loved the cold.

It worked. By six, Monika had joined the Elita Ski Club and started training and competing in the mountains of southern Poland. What began as a childhood adventure never stopped being a passion.

She's been with the Polish Ski Instructor Association since 2000, earning her Recreational Ski Instructor certification in 2007 and her SITN/PZN Level II the year after. Since then she's coached in Poland, Slovakia, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and across the US at Park City, Deer Valley, and Liberty Mountain. GS and SL are where she likes to work.

Her coaching superpower? She calls it predicting the future. Her job, as she sees it, is helping athletes see who they could become if they put in the work.

Off snow, Monika is a Recreation Specialist and volunteers with Blue Ridge Adaptive Snow Sports. She's into photography, cooking, and getting her family outdoors year-round. Two things families might not guess: she used to dance ballet, and she has a soft spot for art, culture, and the occasional dressed-up evening! You would not know it from the 7 AM version of her.

Best ski day ever? The ones with her kids and husband. First turns at Liberty with her 5-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter, then at Okemo last January, freezing, fixing it with hot chocolate.

What she wants athletes to know: "Be extraordinary, and feel great doing everything you do."

Why she coaches: "Helping young people be amazing and proud of themselves."

This is her first season with LMRT, and she cannot wait to meet everyone.
