TERRY SHEEHAN

U14 Coach | The California Bear

Four years at LMRT. A lifetime in love with the carve.

Terry's racing story started on a bus to a little poma lift in the Sierra Nevada. They offered afternoon racing. He said yes and never looked back. He raced through high school (his school had a team!) and college at UC Berkeley (Go Bears!), captaining his team to two national qualifications along the way.

His favorite discipline? Slalom. "Each turn comes so fast—there's lots of opportunity to ski hard." That's Terry in a nutshell: always finding the next opportunity to push it.

His coaching superpower? A growth mindset and a love for the carve. Terry coached at the development team level in California for three years before bringing that West Coast energy to LMRT's U14 program, where he's all about watching kids get better and build confidence through skiing.

When he's not on snow, Terry's probably teaching English or driving to soccer practice. He's a morning person fueled by coffee, and his guilty pleasure is Good and Plentys. His best ski day ever? Skiing powder at Snowbird with his brothers and figuring out how to find GS-like interturn acceleration on a powder day. His dream destination is the Dolomites.

One thing families might not know: Breaking his leg in 2004 had a positive effect on his life. Sometimes the setbacks teach you the most.

What he wants LMRT athletes to know: "Touch your knees to your toes!"

Why he coaches: "I love watching kids build confidence through skiing."
