FUTURE STARS (U8)

Sundays. Snow. Smiles. The beginning of something big.

While most families are sleeping in, yours is loading skis into the car in the dark. Your kid is buzzing with energy, talking a mile a minute about gates and turns, wondering if their friend will be there, and also wondering if today’s the day they get an extra lap through the terrain park.

You're half-awake, clutching coffee, wondering if you're crazy.

You're not crazy. You're exactly where you're supposed to be.

This is Future Stars. This is where kids fall in love with skiing. Some of them will go on to race at the highest levels—podiums, championships, college programs, the whole deal. Some of them will just grow up loving winter, bringing their own families to the mountain someday, teaching their kids to carve turns on the same trails where it all started for them.

Both of those futures? They start right here. On Sunday mornings. With snow and smiles and a group of 7 year olds who just want to go fast.

WHAT WE DO

Future Stars is LMRT's Sunday-only introductory program for seven year old athletes. It's designed for skiers who are solid on intermediate terrain and ready to learn what ski racing actually is.

Sunday Schedule:

  • Morning Session: 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM

  • Lunch Break: 11:00 AM - 11:45 AM

  • Afternoon Session: 11:45 AM - 2:30 PM

We spend our Sundays teaching the fundamentals—how to make clean turns, how to read terrain, how to move through gates without overthinking it. We introduce Giant Slalom basics. We build confidence. We make skiing something kids want to do, not something they have to do.

And we keep it fun. Because if it's not fun at 7 years old, what's the point?

WHAT YOUR ATHLETE WILL LEARN

Skiing Fundamentals

Balance. Edging. Pressure control. All the technical stuff that matters, taught in a way that makes sense to a kid who just wants to go fast.

Introduction to Gates

What are they? How do you get through them? Why do they make skiing more fun? We answer all of it.

The Joy of Progression

That feeling when something clicks. When the turn that was hard last week suddenly feels easy. When you surprise yourself. We live for that.

How to Be Part of a Team

Showing up. Encouraging your teammates. Celebrating someone else's good run like it's your own. This stuff matters more than you think.

Who This is For

Future Stars is perfect for athletes who:

  • Are 7 years old

  • Can ski intermediate (blue) terrain confidently in a wide parallel stance

  • Are excited about skiing and want to try something new

  • Are ready to commit to Sunday mornings (Jan-March)

  • Have families who are up for being part of a team community

No racing experience required. Just bring curiosity, effort, and a willingness to try.

Time Commitment

Training: Sundays only, January through early March
Races: Optional! We host fun team races and give athletes the chance to experience race day. No pressure, just experience.

This is a low-commitment introduction to ski racing. We get it—your family has a lot going on. Sundays work. And if you miss one? Life happens. We'll see you next week.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE as A FUTURE STAR

Your 7-year-old's podium might be making it through five gates without stopping. Learning to maintain parallel on a hill that felt big last week. Convincing their best friend to join. Coming back next Sunday even though last Sunday was hard. Whatever it is, we'll help them stand on it.

WHERE THEY GO FROM HERE

After a season (or two) in Future Stars, most athletes move into our Development Team program—our full-weekend program for U10 athletes ready for more training and race experience.

Some kids stay in Future Stars for multiple seasons. Some move up quickly. Some decide racing isn't their thing but keep skiing recreationally. All of it is fine. All of it is success.

We're not in a rush. We're just here to teach kids to ski, to love it, and to show up for each other.

The rest takes care of itself.
